Vennote is building next-generation Natural Language Understanding, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence products with a focus on Multimodal and Cross-Channel User Interfaces (phone, web, mobile, etc.)

This is a full-time position working hybrid, in shifts.

The position requires individuals who enjoy challenges, prioritize, meet deadlines, and have a collaborative work ethic and teamwork spirit working closely with our Speech Scientists, Software Developers, Analysts, and Project Managers in our Nigerian offices.

  • Provide technical support for our applications, troubleshoot issues, and perform root cause analysis to identify and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Infrastructure Maintenance: Monitor and maintain the infrastructure supporting our applications, including Linux servers, databases (MySQL, MongoDB), application servers (Tomcat, Nginx) and the elastic stack.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify performance bottlenecks and suggest improvements to enhance the overall system performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Incident Management: Respond to and resolve incidents in a timely manner, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Escalate issues to appropriate teams when necessary and follow established incident management procedures.
  • Automation and Monitoring: Develop and maintain automated scripts and tools to streamline operational tasks. Monitor system health and performance using tools like Elastic Stack, Netdata, and other equivalent monitoring solutions.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with development teams to provide input on deployment strategies, infrastructure requirements, and application supportability.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation related to application support processes, troubleshooting steps, and standard operating procedures.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to application support and operations. Identify opportunities for process improvements and contribute to the team’s growth and efficiency
  • Proficiency in Linux system administration, including command-line operations, troubleshooting, and shell scripting. Strong knowledge of MySQL and MongoDB databases. Experience with application servers such as Tomcat and Nginx.
  • Programming Languages: Solid understanding and practical experience with PHP and Java programming languages.
  • Tools and Technologies: Familiarity with tools like Postman, Karate, and Netdata (or equivalent monitoring tools). Experience with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana) for log analysis and monitoring is desirable.
  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and propose effective solutions. Strong troubleshooting skills with a systematic and detail-oriented approach.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Flexibility and Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and shifting requirements effectively.
  • Experience: Previous experience in application support, operations, or a similar role is highly preferred.
